Foraging and Cooking at Slakthusateljéerna (2016)

Foraging and Cooking at Slakthusateljéerna 2016

"A growing interest in the green sustainable city makes itself reminded in various ways in our society today, not least through a growing number of urban farmers and new-found interest in the allotment movement. There are many who have a desire to literally put their fists in the earth, but far from all city residents have access to a garden or an allotment plot. Are there other ways of thinking about cultivation? How can we use and explore green spaces? And what happens when we do it together?

Slakthusområdets hembygdsförening (The Slaughterhouse Area's Local Society) welcomes you to walk in our neighborhood with Emelie Rekestad, gardener with specialized knowledge of wild edible plants. During an afternoon we explore the green spaces that surround Slakthusområdet (The Slaughter House Area) and learn to recognize and pick the edible plants found there. After the hike we gather at Slakthusatejéernas backyard (The Slaughter House Areas Studio Collective's backyard) to cook the plants we have found in a wood-fired mobile kitchen built by artist Erik Sjödin."
